Please see this week’s announcements and reminders below:
Yesterday, Sacramento County issued a new (old) health order, going back to requiring all residents to wear masks in all indoor public settings and gatherings. Since GraceHill Church is under the county’s jurisdiction, we (pastors) wanted to remind you of a few decisions we have been operating by over the past year or so, going back to when masks were required and indoor worship gatherings were prohibited.
As Christ’s church, we are called to draw clear lines where the Word of God draws clear lines. Issues pertaining to our worship of God, such as when and how to worship, are clearly outlined in Scripture. We are encouraged to gather regularly for worship (Heb 10:24-25), and as we gather, we must preach Christ (Gospel), pray, read Scriptures, sing Scriptures, fellowship, and partake of Communion (Acts 2:42; 1 Tim 4:13; 2 Tim 4:1-2; Eph 5:18-21; Col 3:15-16; 1 Cor 11:25-26). Our leadership team is unified in our pursuit to honor Christ by fulfilling all of these obligations. At the same time, we desire to do everything to be submissive to our government (which is also a clear command in Scripture) so long as their requirements do not contradict what Christ requires of us.
On the other hand, following 1 Corinthians 8-10, issues regarding masks and vaccinations are matters of personal conscience between each individual and the Lord. Each person has the freedom to make personal, informed decisions as they see best. In light of this, we will continue not to require mask-wearing at our worship services and will leave it up to your discretion. If you choose to wear a mask, no one should single you out or make you feel uncomfortable, and vice-versa.
Church, remember, love for Christ and one another must motivate us and characterize us at all times!
With that, we look forward to gathering and worshipping together this Sunday! We will participate in Communion and proceed in our study of Matthew, as Jesus continues to instruct us on faith and discipleship. Remember to come early (9:30) to enjoy pre-service fellowship with coffee and bagel and be ready to worship Jesus.
We’ll gather once more for Summer Park Fellowship at Roseview Park at 6:00 pm if the weather holds up (forecast shows 98°). Over the past few weeks, we’ve had some visitors joining us - please spend some time getting to know them while you fellowship and play. Also, keep inviting others!
