The Gospel of Matthew is a turning point in Scripture. From Genesis to Malachi, the Old Testament built up an expectation of something great that was to come. Indeed, Someone great was to be among men who would accomplish the will of God like no one had ever done before. The story of Christ, however, doesn’t begin in Matthew - the promises of Christ are carried in Scripture from Genesis 3:15 through the narratives of the prophets, priests, and kings, and are ultimately fulfilled in Bethlehem, in the Person of a little baby - the Son of God and Son of Man!
