On the heels of Matthew 10, in which Jesus prepares His disciples for the tough road ahead, Matthew records for us an episode where Jesus is asked a very serious question. It’s a question that every reader of Matthew should be asking also: after what we’ve seen in the first 10 chapters, is Jesus the one who is to come? Jesus' answer in this passage encouraged not only John but also should encourage the rest of us in times of doubt.
Big Idea: Jesus is the Expected One who “disappoints” our expectations but is greater than we expect!
