We are thrilled to begin our ministry to the young ones at GraceHill Church by offering Sunday School classes. Children are a gift from the Lord (Ps 127:3), and it is our privilege as a body to lead them to Christ. Here is some important information regarding this upcoming ministry:
The first day of Children’s Sunday School is Sunday, March 14, 2021
As we launch this ministry, we plan to have only one class, with children ages 5 to 9. As the Lord grows this ministry, we will adjust accordingly and add more classes for specific age groups.
Pastor Yan Kislitsa is appointed to oversee the Sunday School ministry. Daniel and Albina Taran, who have served our church for many years, including in Sunday school, will be leading this ministry as the new Children’s Sunday School Directors. We thank the Lord for this family and their desire to serve our kids. Together, this team will develop this ministry as the Lord opens new opportunities to serve a wider group of children at GraceHill Church.
Every Sunday, four (4) volunteers are needed to serve in the Children’s Sunday School. We encourage every member to help with this ministry. The plan is to engage one person (or a couple) once every two months to split the ministry load and allow each member to participate in this super important ministry to our children.
10:20 am – 11:30 am. After prolonged discussion and prayer, the elders of the GraceHill Church decided to do Sunday School during our Sunday Worship Service. After worshiping together with the congregation, at around 10:20 AM, all kids attending Sunday School will be dismissed to go to their classes for an hour-long program, including a Bible lesson based on Generations of Grace (curriculum created by Grace Community Church).
For many years (since the founding of GCS), Children’s Sunday School was done before Worship Service, 9:00 am to 10:00 am. This schedule allowed the children to be present with their parents and the rest of the congregation during the service. However, years of practice proved that such structure was also hard on parents, especially on moms. Parents with a few young children would often miss the entire sermon because they were preoccupied with their children’s needs. As a result, many parents were not tuned into worship and preaching for many years. Now, we need to change the way we serve our families, especially moms, on Sundays. The new structure will allow us to accomplish that with both groups. It will also enable us to split the ministerial load among more members of this body and not overload designated teachers.
This Sunday, March 7, 2021, after the Sunday service (11:45), we will have a meeting with parents and volunteers who are willing to be involved in Sunday School in Room 103. We will go over the purpose and the practical aspects of this ministry. You will have a chance to discuss, suggest, and ask questions. We invite everyone to attend!
